A hotel born alongside a city
Born next to the Ebro, Hotel Hiberus is part of a Zaragoza that looks to the future without losing its essence. A hotel that does not impose itself on the surroundings, but rather accompanies them, frames them, and turns them into part of each stay.
The origin of a new Zaragoza
Inaugurated in 2008 on the occasion of the International Expo, Hotel Hiberus emerges as one of the major symbols of the city’s urban transformation. The banks of the Ebro ceased to be a boundary to become a vibrant, contemporary space full of possibilities.
Located in the river’s meander, next to the Expo site and surrounded by some of Zaragoza’s most recognizable architectural icons, the hotel occupies a privileged position: close to the city centre, yet immersed in an open and natural environment.
That duality (city and landscape, movement and calm) defines its identity from the very first moment.
Architecture you can explore
Designed by José Antonio Martínez Lapeña and Elías Torres, the building is conceived as a large sculptural piece: a stranded ship by the river that seems to move towards the city.
Nothing at Hotel Hiberus is accidental. The contained entrance gives way to an interior that unveils itself progressively. The grand hall, with its monumental proportions, functions as an interior avenue where natural light, height, and silence create a first impression hard to forget.
Spaces flow, connect, and open. Even the room corridors face inward, reinforcing a constant sense of spaciousness and continuity.
Here, architecture is not observed; it is experienced.
Light, matter and balance
Light is the true material of Hotel Hiberus. Glass multiplies it, wood balances it. Transparency and warmth coexist in an environment that is both contemporary and welcoming.
The north facade, with its skin of concrete slats and green glass bricks, filters the wind and light, creating a changing atmosphere throughout the day. At dusk, the building transforms, projecting reflections that make it an almost scenic element within the urban landscape.
The interior design continues this dialogue: iconic pieces of Nordic design, such as those by Arne Jacobsen, coexist with textiles and materials that bring identity and timelessness. The result is a space where design is perceived, but not imposed.
A space that inspires what happens inside
Hotel Hiberus not only hosts stays: it hosts experiences. Art is part of the journey, integrating into the architecture and adding new layers of meaning. Works, murals, and photography turn each space into something more than functional.
Its lounges and terraces continue that connection with the surroundings. Open, versatile spaces connected to the outside, where events, conferences, and celebrations find a setting designed to inspire.
And beyond, the river. The terrace, the pool, the horizon. Always present is the feeling of spaciousness, pause, and balance.
